The play by noted humorist Marc Acito is a sweet take on the true story of two male penguins who raised a baby in the Central Park Zoo. And it comes to Tampa Bay at an interesting time in Florida’s history. Penguin Roy (Daniel), who is gay, loves Penguin Silo (Robert Richards Jr.), who rejects labels. He’s not gay, he says, just in a “gay relationship.” Roy wants a baby and pretends a rock in his zoo enclosure is an egg. But one day, the zookeepers switch it out for a real egg, and Roy and Silo raise the chick together.
