In this beautiful adaptation of her award-winning, bestselling memoir, The Year of Magical Thinking (which The New York Times called “an indelible portrait of loss and grief…a haunting portrait of a four-decade-long marriage), Joan Didion transforms the story of the sudden and unexpected loss of her husband and their only daughter into a stunning and powerful, and ultimately hopeful. one-woman play.


Vickie Daignault (Performer) is honored for the opportunity to present material as compelling as Didion’s The Year of Magical Thinking and to be able collaborate on it with Karla Hartley.

Vickie is a transplant to the Tampa Bay Area from Chicago where she was seen in Hats!, the Musical with Melissa Manchester, Time Step, On the Brink, Daughter of Beijing, Big River, Kindertransport, To Kill a Mockingbird, Pulp, Sondheim in the Park, among others. Closer to home, she has been seen in the Theatre Tampa Bay and Creative Loafing award-winning Good People at American Stage, The Dixie Swim Club with Morgan Fairchild at the Alhambra, is a frequent cast member of Radio Theatre at Studio@620 and has participated in a number of local staged readings and events. Additionally, she has performed at The Lamb’s Theatre in New York, North Carolina Shakespeare, Virginia Theatre Company, Children’s Theatre of Charlotte, and the DeBron Center in the Netherlands. Vickie is a graduate of North Carolina School of the Arts and may be seen in the films Epiphany, Alien Hand, Last of the Dog Days and The Serious Student, and in various commercials and industrials. She is the Intern Program Director for DirectorsLabChicago, a proud member of Actors’ Equity Association and SAG/ AFTRA, and has been active on a number of Equity’s committees.
