When a long-married, empty-nesting husband puts on a “hair system” to feel alive again (and to look like Jason Bateman), his wife doesn’t recognize him but does find herself more attracted to this new man than the one she married, triggering a personality-bending, marriage-breaking comic implosion.
Steven Demmler is a playwright, screenwriter, and producer. Recent credits include Reed Van Dyk’s Atonement (Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, w/Kenneth Branagh), Todd Haynes’s upcoming De Noche w/ Pedro Pascal, Paul Schrader’s Basics of Philosophy (Venice), and Rabbit Trap (Sundance, w/Dev Patel).
His writing has (he chooses to believe) lovingly been described as what might result if Kenneth Lonergan, Martin McDonagh, and (young) Terrence Malick got absolutely hammered and dry humped.
Along with Elijah Wood and Daniel Noah he is a cofounder of the pop culture collectibles company MUTANT and the SPECTREVISION RADIO podcast network.
His writing is represented by WME and Iconoclast. He holds both an MSc in Global Finance and an MFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU.
