As Tampa’s longest-running professional theatre, we are an integral part of the cultural landscape in Tampa, bringing intellectual, emotionally challenging and socially relevant theatre to our area. For the past 42 seasons, we have been recognized as a visionary force in bringing bold, innovative theatrical productions to the Tampa Bay area. Our mission to “Ignite the Human Spirit” has been at the forefront of every production, event, program, and community partnership we’ve developed through the years. All of which has been led by our Producing Artistic Director, Karla Hartley.
Our ability to impact the community through the arts and culture that theatre programs provide have been in part to the huge support of our donor base, grants, and special events. One of these sources was the Florida State budget grants that up until this past year made over $32 million available to art and cultural organizations across our state. With the governor cutting the funds that so many of us depended on for the continuation of our theater programs, we are rising to the challenge at Stageworks Theatre!

Every year Stageworks Theatre located in Tampa’s Channel district professionally produces 7 shows. One Summer Encore presentation of an acclaimed production in one of the last 5 seasons and 6 Main Stage productions which bring timeless classics as well as new productions.
Stageworks Theatre has a long history of providing educational programs through the Public School System for youth ages 8 to 18. Our professional community leaders, interns, and volunteers bring their expertise in leading theater workshops and summer camps that entertain, educate, and ignite the human spirit.
Stageworks partners with Tampa Bay community nonprofit organizations to bring to life topics in highlighted in our productions that are relevant to our area. This is done through talk backs after our shows and other events open the door for honest discussions in the community and create solidarity before social challenges to promote and enrich our daily lives.
